Day Three: I Love Sleep

Last night, I went to bed promptly at 9:00, read for 40 minutes and fell asleep before 10:00PM. So waking up at 6:15AM should have been no problem, right?!

Alas, it was not and I proceeded to hit the snooze button for 20 minutes… a habit I have developed thanks to my husband.

Despite loving winter, I have a difficult time waking up before the sun rises. My bed is so warm and cozy (especially with my new linen sheets), I have blackout curtains, a cuddly cat, a husband… it’s just very difficult to make get up these days. Ideally, I’d like to sleep in until 8:00am and probably could’ve even with going to bed so early.

Winter is for hibernating. For resting. Resetting. We should all be able to sleep in.

Mike always makes fun of me for going to bed so early. What he doesn’t realize is that I go to bed early to get up early (usually) and unfortunately I tend to wake up numerous times throughout the night meaning I don’t get the best sleep ever. So I make a point of getting myself in bed as early as possible to try to get the best sleep possible. It’s a priority because I’m not the best at it and being well rested is a  major component to your overall health and wellness!

Mike would definitely disagree, but I raise you this: sure, he stays up late, but then gets to sleep late, AND never wakes up for anything including your very loud, repetitive, alarm going off for over 5 minutes. True story: I actually refrained from turning off his alarm like I usually do to see how long he’d actually allow it to go off for… 5 minutes was as far as I could make it because that’s just ridiculous!

I would never say I have insomnia, because I really don’t have issues falling asleep. It’s just staying asleep that is the trouble.

I wish I could be more like my husband in that I could sleep soundly, but I wouldn’t trade being a morning person for anything. I love my morning time.

What about you? Are you like me or my husband? How’s your sleep?

Happy Friday!

xx
